"Recuero’s work is defined by the creation of staged images, constructed almost like contemporary still lifes that unfold as narratives. Unlike artists who rely on improvisation to capture reality, every element in his images is carefully placed and intentional.

His work seeks to tell real stories and lived experiences, shaped by a distinctive photographic language in which cool tones and the arrangement of objects create a cinematic aesthetic. It is not documentary or journalistic in nature, but rather a figurative approach that invites understanding.

With Marc, Recuerdo opens a dialogue that moves away from sensationalism and moral judgment, encouraging reflection on the process of gender reassignment of a trans man. Through Marc’s story, the series becomes a pathway to explore diversity, transition, and identity — leading us to better understand different ways of being and feeling.

To develop this project, the artist traveled to Barcelona over a period of two months to interview Marc and gain a deeper understanding of his reality before beginning the work. Starting from these conversations and Marc’s own notes, Recuerdo planned and shaped what would later become the photographic series we see today."
